Waco City Employees to Receive Standardized ID Badges

The city of Waco is testing out a new ID badge program that requires city employees to carry standardized ID badges. The goal of the program is to improve safety. 150 employees were issued badges as part of a pilot program which will be expanded to other departments after a trial period.

There are a number of ways in which employee ID badges can enhance security. Waco wants to provide residents with assurance that city employees are who they say they are. The badges also make it easier to differentiate between workers and visitors in city buildings.

Each badge contains the employee's name and photo, an employee ID number, and displays which department they work for. The badges also feature a secure watermark to prevent counterfeiting.
