Lehigh Valley Hospital Implements RFID Badges for OR Patients
|
Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN) in eastern Pennsylvania is implementing a new RFID badge program for its three hospitals. The ultra wide-band (UWB) RFID system will be used to track surgical patients and to improve communications between hospital staff, patients, family members and friends. When a patient checks into an LVHHN hospital for an operation, their data will be entered into a tracking program, and the patient will be issued an RFID badge with a unique ID number. The system will then be able to access real-time information in order to effectively track and monitor the status of individual hospital patients – for instance their surgery schedules, physical locations, and information regarding whether or not they’ve been cleared for surgery, will all be accessible to hospital staff. |
