South Georgia High School to Require ID Badges for Students
Dougherty County High School in Albany, Geo. will greet students returning from spring break with a new policy requiring them to wear ID badges at all times throughout the school day. The policy applies to students in grades 9 through 12. The students will be issued the IDs on April 9th as part of the county’s effort to create a safer environment at schools.
The primary goal of the badges is to protect students and faculty from potentially dangerous intruders on campus. If someone is spotted without a badge, that person will be questioned as to their purpose on school grounds.
Beginning next school year, all students in the Dougherty County School System will be issued ID badges, and there are possible future plans to integrate the badges into the school lunch program as well as the attendance system.
